Introduced by Ducati at the 2003 Tokyo Motor Show, and put on sale in 2005 for the 2006 model year, the Sport1000 ran from 2006 through the 2009 model years.
They were the product of Ducati's design chief Pierre Terblanche, who said the series started with the Evoluzione MH900e replica of Mike Hailwood's victorious 1978 Isle of Man TT bike.
The Sport1000 is inspired from the 1973 Ducati 750 Sport and related 750 Imola Desmo, and graces the stylish look of a classic lightweight single-seat café racer.

This beautiful 2007 Ducati SportClassic Sport 1000 is finished in yellow with black stripes. It is powered by a 992cc desmodromic L-Twin paired with a six-speed transmission. The air-cooled 992cc L-twin features desmodromically actuated valves, Marelli electronic fuel injection, and an oil cooler. Power is sent to the rear wheel through a multi-disc wet clutch, a six-speed transmission, and a drive chain. The bike sits on Alpina wire-spoke 17″ tubeless wheels.
High quality modifications include a Termignoni Double Single Pipe Exhaust System, High Compression Pistons, an ECU, and K&N Pods with Airbox Removal.
The OEM tank has been upgraded solely as a preventative measure.
