Introduced for the 2002 model year, the Coupe was one of the cars that spearheaded Maserati's return to the American market after a decade-long hiatus. It stood out with a muscular exterior designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of ItalDesign, a sumptuous interior commissioned to Enrico Fumia, and a powerful V8 developed jointly by Maserati and then-parent company Ferrari. It perfectly embodied the definition of a GT car. Production ended in 2007.

The 2+2 cabin is trimmed in light gray Pelle Frau leather by world-renowned Poltrona Frau, with matching lower dashboard, door panels and headliner.
Pelle Frau leather goes through a special 21 step tanning process in order to create the finest quality it is known for. The tanning treatment transforms the leather by increasing the suppleness and hardwearing qualities, making it more practical for the Maserati driver. The result is the leather is extremely soft and comforting in winter, and cool in the summer months. Poltrona Frau leather also ages well over time, creating a timeless aesthetic reflective of the Maserati investment model.
The three-spoke steering wheel is finished in Pelle Frau leather and carbon fiber, and frames a 200-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 7,500-rpm redline. Instrumentations are outfitted by celebrated Swiss watchmaker Jaeger (of Jaeger-LeCoultre).
Amenities include automatic climate control, power windows and locks, power and heated front seats memory settings.
Power comes from a Ferrari-derived "F136R" 4.2-liter V8, rated at 390 horsepower and 333 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.
